UKZN Enactus Team at Leadership Workshop in Johannesburg
The newly-appointed Enactus UKZN Executive team was in Johannesburg recently for a two-day Enactus South Africa Leadership Training workshop.
This workshop was held to inform Enactus Executive teams from 21 universities in South Africa about the organisation and to give guidance on leadership.
Enactus University teams all over the world are given the challenge of starting projects in which business concepts are used to develop community projects by effectively using entrepreneurial action to empower people to improve their livelihoods in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way.
Enactus South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Ms Letitia de Wet, welcomed delegates who got involved in a workshop on leadership and sustaining programmes. Participants were informed about innovative project selection and sustainability.
During the session the students were given guidance on how to choose projects which have a wide impact and also place them in a position to do well in the Enactus World Cup in South Africa next year.
Other topics included Asset-Based Community Development and a section on how to interact with the community using a bottom-up approach.
The last session of the workshop was conducted by de Wet, who advised students on how to fundraise for their projects and how to write winning proposals. This event also proved to be a great networking session and provided an opportunity for the teams to learn from each other about leadership.
